Tokoroa has all the amenities you’ll find in larger centres while retaining the relaxed community atmosphere of a classic New Zealand town. There are nine primary schools and two high schools and tertiary education providers that include Te Pūkenga (the largest tertiary education provider in New Zealand). The town has plenty of eateries, a large community swimming pool, a library, a leisure centre, a skatepark and courts for netball, basketball and tennis.
The dairy and timber industries are thriving in Putāruru and bring with them lots of local employment opportunities. Fonterra’s Lichfield plant, for example, is the largest milk drier and cheese manufacturer in Australasia. The town has five schools catering for new entrants through to year 15. Hamilton, Rotorua and Tauranga are less than an hour’s drive away, making it an easy commute to the main centres.
Arapuni may be small in size, but it’s big in character. Love space? You’ll love Arapuni. Executive homes and charming villas with large sections have an average price of just $640,000. If a lifestyle block is more your thing, then you’ll find plenty of choices in the surrounding countryside. The area is great if your passion runs towards biking, with heaps of places to ride and explore along the Waikato River Trails. The Suspension Bridge provides a thrilling view of the Waikato River and the Arapuni Power Station.
Tīrau is known for its good climate and there are plenty of ways to enjoy all that fresh air. There’s an 18 hole golf course, outdoor pool, tennis courts plus all the activities on and alongside the nearby Waikato River. Tīrau is incredibly central, with State Highway 1 running through it. Hamilton, Rotorua and Tauranga are all within an hour’s drive, making Tīrau a great place to live if you work in one of those nearby centres but prefer a quieter home life for you and your family.
